As teachers in our classrooms, we've all had some type of daily or weekly schedule posted around the room so that students knew what to expect and at what time. This schedule was something that gave students a sense of balance. They could rely on seeing it everyday and although they might not know exactly what assignments would come, they at least felt comfortable knowing there was a routine in place that was visually accessible.
Now that we have transitioned into online learning for the time being, we can utilize this schedule and incorporate it into our Google Classroom using the banner tool. Yes, many teachers have been uploading weekly or daily schedules as a Post or as an Assignment, but at times students and parents find that it can get confusing as they get lost in a sea of revolving posts that eventually get buried at the bottom of the page. More often, students can become anxious when they are unable to find a post or assignment, assuming they are expecting that assignment in the first place.
With the Google Classroom banner, this tool is something that is always visible on the front page when students open up their online classrooms. Parents can also view it quickly on their child's front page and can see what assignments have been posted for the week or any special announcements that have been made. Make use of it by posting a Monday-Friday schedule, with possible times that you will be working on certain subjects. You can even add specific assignment names onto the schedule and add symbols for when you've Posted an assignment, when an assignment is Almost Due, and when you've Graded all the class assignments for that subject or day.
